What is Digital Signage?

Digital signage can take on many forms. In the most generic sense, it is simply a dynamic sign which displays digital media files to a public audience. Digital signage employs a network internet connection to deliver rich media content to digital displays, including projectors, LEDs, LCDs, or plasma screens. Networked servers can be employed to deliver the content on a predetermined schedule, allowing users to strategically target audiences in specific locations from a central control center to any display across the globe.

These electronic display can show television programming, menus, information, advertising and other messages. Digital signs can be found in public and private environments, such as retail stores, hotels, restaurants and corporate buildings.

The market sees digital signage as more beneficial compared to static signage because content that updates frequently can be digitally updated, saving the cost of printing. Digital signage also has the ability to be interactive with embedded touch screens, movement detection and image capture devices.
